Creative Soundworks DTT2500 - wont power up
« on: September 27, 2021, 02:54:29 pm »
Hi !!! I have a "Creative Soundworks DTT2500 Dolby reciever" for quite some time... and a few days ago it powered off a few times...

Today it didn't power on, not even a led. Reading this post:

https://www.eevblog.com/forum/projects/revising-cambridge-soundworks-dtt2500-amplifier-adding-a-toslink/

... gave some courage to dismantle the device, and I took a look inside.

I've checked the power brick, the capacitors, de-soldered the shield and I couldn't find any sign of trouble.

Messing around with my multimeter I've moved the fuse in the board, and it powered up !!!, when I removed the fuse I saw that the holder seems to have some rust... I've applied some contact cleaner and it's working again...

Looking around I've also found this video on cleaning the volume pots...

Hope this helps someone that may have the same problem ... and I'm praying that the fuse holder was the only problem....
