just wanted to share my latest happiness, it feel so good when hard to solve things, actually get solved.

Great video.  I'd like five minutes alone in an empty room with whoever threw that in a dumpster.  |O  What a beautiful piece of hardware! 

I can't imagine what motivated all that silver-plated shielding around the oscillator tube, but I'm sure they had their reasons.  It looks like a million Deutschmarks and probably cost a substantial fraction of it.

And nice work on the meter!  I was thinking you were a little too quick to blame the meter itself, and then I expected a disaster in the making when you tore into it, but it soon became apparent that you knew what you were doing. :)
