13.56 MHz RFID antenna multiplexer and antenna distance from reader IC

Hi,
I am working on a 3 x 3 matrix of 13.56 MHz RFID reading coils (different from another project I previously posted) and the reader for each coil is up to 20 cm away from the coils.

Are there any potential issues on using a single RFID reader IC for all coils (instead of 9 - one for each coil) and multiplex the coils? I am thinking latency, but perhaps other potential issues?
