Digole brand color OLED displays - Anyone used them?
« on: July 31, 2014, 09:55:48 pm »
I am considering buying a couple of these displays for a home project.

1.8" Color OLED 160x128 Module: http://www.digole.com/index.php?productID=883
Programming Manual: http://www.digole.com/images/file/Tech_Data/Digole_Serial_Display_Adapter-Manual.pdf

Key things going for them:
1. Reasonably priced. USD 26
2. 3.3v and 5v
3. Supports 3 communications methods: UART, SPI, I2C.
4. Onboard font and drawing management.

Has anyone here used these displays?
Any pros and cons you can offer up?

Thanks in advance.
Where are we going, and why are we in a handbasket?

Haven't used that one, but I've worked with displays of the same resolution. The OLED itself looks interesting, but the PIC and all the other stuff on the board seems less than wonderful. The drawing speed is awfully slow, but might be OK for arduino/hobby projects.

Here's another source for cheap(er) OLEDs: http://www.buydisplay.com/

Yes, they appear to be quite slow.
Fortunately my application will only have one data update or screen refresh every 10 minutes, so it shouldn't be an issue.
