Bench Power Supply

Hey eevblog,
I have been working on the design for my bench power supply, and need help finding a useful schematic for it. I have been basing it off of the LT1084, but the schematic on its data sheets contains 2 transformers without information about them. My main requirements are at least 0-30v and at least 0-5a. I mostly have the voltage control done, but the part that I can't figure out is the current limiting control. I don't want to use a potentiometer because of efficiency, and I want to use something similar to the circuit that a mainstream power supply (BK precision or Rigol) uses to accurately limit the current.

I found the LT3080 but don't know how to effectively use it. Are there any other good schematics for lab power supplies?

Dave jones had an entire seeries on his early usupply using lt3080

Didn't he run into a problem with the LT3080?  Was he ever able to figure out a solution?  Something like it became unstable under certain conditions?  It seemed like it killed his uSupply project.
