Strange layout of current sense IC

Hi,
i am not a professional, but i found something that looks strange to me. Its from a yamaha ebike motor (PW-ST).

Its a current sensor of a phase of the brushless motor.

The fuse is rated for 30A, but these traces, even if they are short, look quite stupid to me. Also the manufacturer does suggest both pads to be on a plane.

Anyone know of a reason for this strange layout?

must be an hall effect current sensor

What traces?

You mean the pads?  Those are covered in solder and component leads.  And are very short.  Copper is an excellent conductor, you can pinch down quite a bit and stay within thermal limits as long as the heat has somewhere to go.  Traces only reach steady state limits over long lengths (some inches).

I would pour copper over/around the pads personally, but this here is far from a disaster. :-+
