It seems that a lot off modifications with this Multimeter is of course related to the 9v battery and its current consumption. Auto power off modification, or adding back light LED , or many others is considering current draw and how long before replacing the 9V battery.

One alternative might be a 7.4 Li-po or Li-ion battery that is commonly used in drones and other toys. Almost same size as 9v, permanently mounted, with the charging port accessible.

Ut61e battery warning light turns on around 5.5v. and accuracy of the meter is very good all the way down to 3V.

I wanted to get your opinion on this idea !!

There are off the shelf 2xLiIon batteries in 9V-compatible format.

One disadvantage I can imagine is that battery protection circuit may turn it off before the meter displays low battery warning. Maybe warning threshold could be increased.

And thank you for reminding I need to charge my NiMHs :palm: :D
