https://www.eevblog.com/forum/projects/time-machine-display-for-my-wife's-school-ideas-needed/After these were taken, we came up with a layout for the LEDs. She wants a green LED and a switch next to each student's name in her class so she can turn the lights on and off.
This is mainly designed as something cool for the "Meet the Teacher" night next month so as she meets parents of the kids, she'll flip the switch next to their name.
The clock will be mounted and set to spin backwards. There will be some 7 segment displays in the middle showing a date. Originally thought we would just control it all from a microcontroller, but she wanted an easy way to change the dates so we may end up cheating and using 8 way dip switches on each segment where she can flip the segments on and off. I know it isn't cool but it will save some time considering we only have about 3 weeks left to finish and most of the work is being done on weekends. I still plan to do something MCU related and have ordered more shift registers.
