This is, as far as I can tell, the circuit which generates the LCD contrast voltage for an AlphaSmart Dana, a 2000s-era laptop thing running PalmOS. AFAICT the 8-pin chip labelled BD2X 833028 (or something like that) is the heart of it; the main processor talks I²C (or something similar) to it to tell it what to do and what voltages to generate. (I've tried sending it commands, and I can make it turn on or off but can't adjust the actual generated voltage.)

I want to know precisely what it is so that I can find the datasheet and look up the command set, but I'm having no luck identifying it. Can anyone pin this down any further?
