Current transformer to 0-10v analog output
« on: January 06, 2022, 08:23:37 am »
Hi all,

I'm looking at logging my house power consumption and solar generation.

I have an analog data logger.

Is there a device that will give me an analog voltage based on ac current draw?

I see a bunch on ali-express but the details are sketchy. I don't want a sine wave output. I prefer a steady voltage that coincides with the RMS measured current.

Say 1v out per 5 amps measured.

I know there are standalone systems available, but I'd prefer something with an analog signal so that I can build a circuit to turn on various loads as required.

Any ideas?

Here is a DIY project very much along the lines of what you want: https://solarduino.com/how-to-measure-ac-current-with-arduino/
Hope it helps.

see https://www.allegromicro.com current sensors. AC current to DC V.

There are loads of prebuilt modules a moffy says.  They usually have 66mv/A output scaling or 1V per 15A
If you need to re-scale it, say to 20mV/A, add an amplifier. eg

How they make these modules cheaper than the Allegro part bulk price is a mystery or a worry. You decide.
