Wifi - Bluetooth RF Interference - DC Power.
« on: August 19, 2020, 12:08:03 am »
A few month ago I had a problem that I fixed by putting space between my class D amp/BT receiver combo and my router. I didn't know what it was until I started trouble shooting.

So, I was getting interference between the amp and the router. I put space between them and the interference stopped.

The Amp has an integrated BT 5.1 receiver and is Class D. It comes with a power brick. It was about 18" away from my Motorola  modem/router. Every time I would load a web page using wifi, the music would stutter. After putting about 3' of space between the Class D amp / BT package and the Router, the stutter stopped.

What intrigues me is that the wifi signal was interfering with the amp's BT connection, so what did the manufacturer of the amp forget to do, or not do well? (I believe 2.4Ghz is the same frequency that BT uses.)

(I'm testing another Class D amp right now and I have it literally 6" away from the router, an I get no interference at all. It's the same similar package, Class D amp/BT 5.1 integrated, just a different vendors build. So, that's why I'm interested.)
