A substitue for 32M x 8 Synchronous DRAM
« on: December 05, 2018, 09:11:56 am »
Hello, is it possible to substitute an Synchronous DRAM 32MX8 166MHz TSOPII 54PIN RAM Chip (NT5SV32M8CS-6K) with an for example P3V56S40ETP-G6? (16MX16)
And why are 32Mx8 DRAM prices so much higher compared to others (even Chinese)?

Different number of address bits, so nope.

It **Might** be possible to get clever with a 32M * 16 part, but it is not going to be pin compatible so you are looking at a board respin at the least, and some **Careful** reading of datasheets to check that you can make it work with only one byte lane in use.

The 8 bit parts are expensive because nearly nobody bothers with them these days.

Regards, Dan.
