I've been fussing around with a RFTG rubidium module for years, here is a picture:

It is just too unwieldy, and honestly doesn't cool it very well either. I've found that most of the heat is produced by the LPRO-101 module, and even then, most of that heat is produced in its base plate. By removing the pcb and LPRO-101 and turning them upside down so the base plate is up, I put a small fan on it and it keeps cool to about 35-40 deg C with very little trouble.
The bottom line is that I have a GPS board, AVR based control board, and a fan to add to it and I want everything in one box. That would be a vast improvement over the pcb's I have hanging over it with wires going everything.
The problem is finding a case big enough at a low price. I've found the 1598J that might be suitable but it might be tight. The RFTG pcb/RB module are about 9" x 6" on their own (1.5" tall). It seems like if you find a suitable instrument chassis, that they are very expensive.
My question is - does anyone have ideas about a chassis that is low cost? Something with a detachable front and back is a plus because I can cut the panels on my CNC for the front connectors and management VFD and the back for the fan, power switch, gps antenna, etc.
