Line out to mic level adapter
« on: March 03, 2018, 12:48:25 pm »
Hello there,
I made a preamp circuit which is functionnal using one of the two amps of a TL082 amp.
It outputs a line level of +4dBu, about 1.730Vpeak.
I would like to connect it to a PC mic IN, which means (if I am not wrong) that I need a -50dB attenuator.
Can I build such attenuator from the op-amp?
Thank you for your help
Tom

Just use two resistors to make a voltage divider, that's all you need.

Is there any formula to go from attenuation to resistor?

Resistor values for attenuator calculator

http://www.nu9n.com/tpad-calculator.html
If three 100  Ohm resistors are connected in parallel, and in series with a 200 Ohm resistor, how many resistors do you have?

First, check if the PC’s sound settings let you switch the input to line-level; most do, right in software.
