Can you connect 3.3V CANH and CANL to 5V system?
« on: March 16, 2015, 05:25:14 am »
Hi. I'm looking to use a Freescale freedom board and they have a 3.3V system with 3.3V CAN transceivers. I'm fairly new to CAN. So I was wondering can I connect the 3.3V lines to a 5V system? I have a USB-to-CAN device I would like to use and that has a 5V system.

My thoughts: You should be able to connect the 3.3V system with the 5V system since CAN is a differential system.
