I often hear then referred to as "Cannon" connectors. Often used in military and aerospace applications.

They exist in an almost infinite number of different configurations for the pinout and keying, and come with either solder or crimp pins and in either threaded or bayonet style coupling.

There will be a part number stamped somewhere on it.

Nearly sure due to the uncommon configuration of the bayonet lock:
VG95234 cylindrical reverse bayonet coupling, probably pinout 16S-1 (7 #16 contacts).

Made by Souriau, Glenair, ITT Cannon, Amphenol Air-LB..
Based on a German adaption of the threaded Mil-C-5015 connectors, therefore the 'VG' designation.
AFAIK there is a British adaption of it. There is some lettering just visible on the locknut. If you post that, I could verify this info.

Thanks for the very extensive reply.
I’ll get back to you about the hopefully visible lettering
as soon as I have access to the cable again.

Also helpful would be to take some mechanical measurements, especially of the connector front side.

Text stamped on connector rotating part:
“7923 CANNON-G CA3106E16S-1P-B-F80
This answers the original question, didn’t see it first time…
Connector is 7-pole

Attaching pictures with rough dimensions and mating chassis connector.

And if you look REAL close at an analog signal,
You will find that it has discrete steps.
