Big Size PCB manufacturer
« on: August 23, 2021, 07:24:04 am »
Hi,
I have a new Customer that has a big 8 layer PCB, it's 90cm x 80cm, I want to know if you happen to know some places that would manufacture them and possibly with a reasonable price.

jlcpcb goes to 6 layers    ex  for an 900x900mm boars  qty of 5   the prices  are very high
https://jlcpcb.com/
You have instant quotes on their websites

Myro pcb

At least you need the board(s)  gerbers to get an estimate of the costs

Thanks for the links, the Gerbers are ready and the design is 8 layers, so JLCPCB is not an option, Have you tired Myro pcb? How is their quality, Price and lead time?

You can try E-Teknet, I use them for all my high layer count boards.

Are you sure about JLCPCB ?
I had a 400 x 400 mm in 4 layer that they could not do a year ago or so. At that time the 400 x 500 shown on their "capabilities" page was only for 2 layer. 4 Layer was smaller than 400x 400 (I can't remember the specific max size)?

That is going to be really expensive if you can even find anyone to make it.
Very curious about the application, and why it can't be split into smaller boards - this would definitely be cheaper.
PCBway's online calculator seems to allow it so may be worth trying them. They quote $3000 for 5x but shows a tip that it may be negotiable.

We had to do about 200mm x 800mm about 10 years ago... Went with a sandwitch of two 4 layer boards as it was cheaper.

If you could settle for two layer and if OshPark could do that size it would cost you $5580 for a run of three.

OMG, what is this thing anyway? An implementation of a Ryzen chip in 74LS series TTL?

Let's assume you manage to produce it. Then the question is where will you get it assembled? If you manage to split it in half, you will have way more options to produce and assemble it. PCB which are very long only in one direction are way less exotic.

..and of course if it needs to be big but not all of it needs 8 layers, then a sub-board is usually a better option

Guys have you seen cisco servers! of course the design is not a cisco but you can get some Ideas, they have vey big PCB's and the design can not be put in separate PCB's, so they usually hand assemble the thing :-X

I wonder if dave can teardown such big beasts! they are absolutely monsters >:D

But a 19" rack is only about 450mm wide, you're looking for twice that.
Pick/Place lines are usually conveyor-based, and the conveyor width is usually the limiting factor - long PCBs can be placed in sections if needed, but width is a pretty hard limit.

Cisco what servers? Their blade servers are much smaller than your PCB.

I do not recall the model number, but cisco has some very advanced products that are absolutely monsters. Some times they have PCB's with more than 20K parts on it.
