Where to get small remote control?
« on: May 01, 2011, 07:51:16 pm »
I'm looking for a small packaged remote unit with around 4 buttons on it. At this stage it could be infra red or RF and I would then build whatever is needed to receive and decode it.

Any ideas?

Can you put an estimated measurement ?

For example my car RC which is about 1.5 by 1 inches with 4 buttons and works with RF. Or my laptop control remote is 2.5 by 2 inches with 23 buttons and IR.

The dimensions aren't at all critical, I just want a packaged unit.

Thanks for your suggestions. The last one would be ideal but it's a bit pricey.

A UK source is preferred.

If you want super cheap you can always get IR remotes from deal extreme
He's one that's only US$2.21 or US$1.50 if you buy 10

They have plenty of other types too
Though, as always with deal extreme, it can take a month or 2 to arrive
Probably want to get a good supply of batteries too, the cheap dx stuff can be a bit dodgy power usage wise.

Oatley have a few good remotes and receiver units, but they're in Aus

Their TX and RX units are separate products and you have to work out which goes with which.

Sure Electronics has a nice remote that's pretty cheap.

Small 7-key User-definable Remote Control

I've been really happy with products purchased from Sure.

Thanks for all the  great suggestions guys. I didn't find any of those when Googling, so I'm glad I asked the question. Now all I have to do is decide which one!
