Fancy small enclosure options with card cage?
« on: March 28, 2024, 02:07:54 am »
Can anyone recommend some nice looking enclosures with a card cage?

Ideally half rack size, 2-3U tall with handles.

Elma and nVent have some nice full size boxes but I am hoping for a half rack size not a full 19". Something like this takachi (photo attached) but with a card rail for example.

Thanks!

My recommendation is to get an old hp measuring device that is broken, unpopular, or about to be thrown away.
The hp enclosures of the time were solidly constructed frames covered with diecast aluminum frames.

A little sheet metal work would make a very good enclosure.

However, sometimes (e.g., models with low selling prices) a cheap sheet metal frame that is not a diecast frame is used (later models of the hp 3478A). Careful selection is necessary.

You can also just choose whatever enclosure you like and install card rails… For some enclosures, dedicated ones are sold, but otherwise generic ones are easy to get.
