UART/Ethernet Communication with IC DP83848-EP

I have a question about the IC DP83848-EP. I am unsure about the data sheet. Is it possible with this IC to implement an interface between UART (RX, TX) and Ethernet? For example for communication with an Arduino Mega?

What makes you think it would be possible?

This looks like a typical Ethernet PHY. The only thing you can do is attach it to an MCU with a MAC. And after that you can make firmware that will do UART to Ethernet translation. But you can't do that with Arduino.

The most common off the shelf solution for what you want are modules from Lantronix. This https://www.lantronix.com/products/xport/ and other similar modules.
