A professional looking of front panel design
« on: October 22, 2023, 06:07:36 am »
Several project that I made end up with an 7 segment and tactile switch. Which is not perfered by user.

So, I would like to ask the way of making a n professionl looking front panel control.
  • Button , instead of tactile button what elese button v by the way I saw some project using a tactile switch pressed with some flex rubber or plastic button , I don't what it's called
  • Display 7 segment  is it installed on flex PCB, or having a gap of frame to illuminate through.

By the way I always love the panel of oscilloscope with somekind of rubber button with LED illuminating underneath. After I saw a rigol ocsilloscope tear down it has a switch on front PCB as in attached file
What it is called?

Could you please share the knowledge or project that had been done?

Thank you

Search for "Membrane Switches" and "Low cost custom Membrane Switches" Capacitive switches seem to have taken over these days.
Its all custom but it might make sense if you have large prodcution runs in mind. Get a chasample.

eg https://www.niceone-keypad.com/ or https://www.jrpanel.com/about/jrpanel/

You can make your own capacitive touch switches. eg https://www.instructables.com/Capacitive-Switch-for-Arduino/

Replace 7seg  with Oled or LCD
Look on Aliexpress for Oled touch or LCD touch, capacitive touch switch and Membrane Switches.
