So, how much do you think the scrap from that TV and computer are worth?
I don't even know of anywhere locally that would buy the processor from me for the gold content, and I'm in Dallas.
The copper and aluminum are much easier. Probably a couple pounds of copper wire. I think current rates for insulated copper wire are about $0.35/pound (because of the low recovery amount, as the weight is a lot of insulation). I believe cast aluminum to be about $0.40/pound. I'd guess about 2 pounds of copper wire, and about a pound of aluminum (I think I'm being generous...), so a total of $1.10. I'd say total time to collect items, take apart, and take materials to recycler of 20 minutes, assuming you do this regularly (much worse if you do it like she did!). So, if you are interested in $3.30/hr, have at it.
