Looking for RJ45 Prototype Shield
« on: June 23, 2014, 09:51:40 pm »
Hey Guys

I'm looking for something like this:

http://www.mikroe.com/products/view/169/ethernet-connector-board/specification/

Hopefully cheaper then $10, of course if that is the average cost then I'll go and buy them anyway, just can't seem to find anything else this small and compact.

I could also make one myself and etch a board but I don't think the return on time and effort would be worth it.

Thanks

what do you need it for ? you need a lot of other stuff to make an ethernet port.

either go for a ethernet module (including coupling transformer, the PHY chip and eventually with MAC as well) or just solder a RJ45 to a piece of protoboard if you have the rest of the circuitry elsewhere.

if you're thinking about "bit-banging" ethernet, then you will need a hell-of-a-fast processor or FPGA for that.

the best way is to buy a ready-to-go ethernet module - search on dealextreme or e-bay.
