News About The Signal Path ??
« on: July 01, 2016, 08:39:32 am »
Does anybody know what has happened to Shahriar? There has been nothing on the Signal Path for a couple of months now and there are no replies on the Youtube channel.

Don’t forget that Shahriar has a full-time job at Bell Labs.
Maybe he’s too busy at moment and not able to produce new videos…

I wonder how much things are changing at Bell Labs since the new owners took possession?

Been wondering the same. I am sure he is very busy. I do know some person was verbally putting down his videos. But I am sure he has thick skin and can handle that.

I have thought about this very thing. Even thought about posting a discussion on it. Not pointing fingers (Not Signal Path or EEVBlog)  but I do see a LOT of  YouTube channel owners that do not reply or even thanks folks for responding.  Now I can understand channels that have hundreds of thousands subs and a few hundred post not being able to at least say thanks for watching. But this seems to become the norm for even small channels now. If I get to the point and do not respond to my viewers I hope to be called out on it.

Geez, what was the complaint? Not enough cats?

I rarely read the Youtube comments and consequently I wouldn't see a "Thanks for watching" reply. Shariar has his own forum and he responds here as well. I don't expect content creators to spend time in the YT comments quagmire. They probably read them to see what their viewers think. I don't even expect that anymore. If you see what some people write it can be an awfully depressing place to hang out.

Never enough cats lol. Some silly stuff about his content was lame. Seems he posted it on every latest video.
You are right about some of the content folks leave.

It's an interesting channel and whenever a new video is posted it is something to look forward to.

Honestly, if I were posting videos I don't know how long you would have to wait for the next one. I have so many things to do other than making videos.

For most people posting YouTube videos is a hobby, not a career. Be grateful that any videos appear at all.

I personally do try to reply to Youtube comments, but yeah the volume is large. You stand the best chance in the first day a video is released when I will generally monitor comments more closely.
I think it's an important thing for a content producer to do, and possibly has played a good part in my channels success.

These videos take an enormous effort. He plans and outlines, followed by design and setup of experiments. He buys gear specifically for doing a video that sometimes requires parts to be ordered. I have no idea how he has done what he has done while having a day job too. I am just thankful for what he has done.

I wasn't implying any problem - only that he clearly has much bigger fish to fry. If I had his brain in my head - You Tube would be low on the priority list too.

I do not see a way someone like you could reply to all of them.  Being that this is your full time job. It would be impossible. You have the forum here for comments. When I made the comment about no replies I was mostly referring to smaller channels.  Take my latest video for example. I have close to 25 comments, I did reply to each which led to more comments. I have just over 1500 subs. Following the 2-3% views from the norm subs if I had 15k subs then the story would change.

I do not know how you guys do it. My email is stuck at 999+ unread  :palm:

No he doesn't owe anything to those who watch his videos.
With that said; some of us are wondering if he is doing okay.

I hope my comment was not misunderstood. I feel lucky that he has taken any time at all to share with the public. Hoping for more is not a bad thing. Expecting more would be.

It's not just a matter of waiting for a new video.  If you check the userlist you'll see that he hasn't been active on the forum since Apr. 27 and his last post was Apr. 24.

As TheSteve said earlier...

So not surprising there's not been a new video for a little while. Frankly, I'm impressed how many videos he normally produces given the depth and quality of each, along with the day job too.

Btw, he's @TheSignalPath on twitter (and active last week)

As long as their absence is not due to something bad happening their lives, meh, big deal.
