« on: March 07, 2023, 09:31:53 am »
Hi all,

Not sure if has been posted already but Dianna from the fantastic YT channel "Physics Girl" is seriously ill (long COVID).

Very much worth supporting in any way.

As someone who is fighting to return to a normal working life after being diagnosed with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (M.E.) and associated Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, she has my sympathy. I have been battling this similar illness since 2010. It is a long haul and not at all easy. I hope that her recovery is faster than mine. Sadly medical science is only just learning about M.E and Long-Covid.

We had a family member that was diagnosed with M.E. and traveled to Japan to get a treatment with Germanium

Allegedly this treatment is not so much known in the western world.

There are 3 kinds of people in this world, those who can count and those who can not.

A new y/t short popped up recently.

Long story short, she's got a long way to go.

The video has a good chart that I've extracted for those who may have similar issues. By all means seek help if you're unwell. The time is now to hound them and insist on roadmapping your recovery.

I watched the last couple of vids. It’s a terrible way she’s in, and for me a bit of an eye opener.
I can associate her easily with the word ‘vitality’,
so through the application of empathy, I am aware that my own potential to have such a reaction has become uncertain, and also shoved into my field of awareness.

Not comfortable hey?

I'm not sure how long ago I first heard she was very ill, but it seems she's severely affected. And not to forget that there will be a great many others less severely affected wishing they had answers and hoping for relief and return to normal.

I have seen some other youtubers appear to mention symptoms consistent with milder long COVID but I'm no doctor. Even the doctors don't seem to have a strong understanding of just how to diagnose it yet. I did see some stats from the CDC in America saying 7-8% of American adults have symptoms of long COVID that they didn't have prior to contracting COVID. And what captured my attention most was some US states have up to 12% whilst others report less than half that number. But whichever way you slice it, it is still millions.

I remember when Chronic Fatigue was poorly understood and dismissed openly. I hope now more effort in research helps improve things.

Best wishes if you're one of those struggling to get treatment and relief for yourself or a family member.
