Review of TI's eZ430-Chronos Wireless Watch Development Tool
« on: August 30, 2010, 01:59:27 am »
I came across this: http://focus.ti.com/docs/toolsw/folders/print/ez430-chronos.html#description on Newark today and thought it was the coolest thing since the discovery of ice. I can already think of 5+ projects that could I use a wireless capable watch for. It includes an on-board 3-axis accelerometer, pressure sensor, temperature sensor. I would like to know if you could get one and do a review of it before a put down $50 and ordered one or five?

Don't blame me. I'm the mechanical engineer.

A friend of mine won it at an IEEE event and decided to give it to me since he had no use for it. I'm not aware of any other watch that has wireless, barometer, accelerometer, and customizable firmware for $50. I haven't played with the wireless quite yet, but one shortcoming is that the included base station card is USB only, making it difficult to use with a microcontroller. The LCD really should be a dot matrix. Still, it's great value at $50.
Cryptocurrency has taught me to love math and at the same time be baffled by it.

Cryptocurrency lesson 0: Altcoins and Bitcoin are not the same thing.

It would be great to see them combine it with an iPod Mini type LCD panel. :)

Well now there is this concept:

The new Nano touch on a wrist strap.
