I think you have to wait until the programmers arrive. I used to test PIC chips and AVR chips. I used PIC programmers to test PIC chips and AVR programmers for AVR chips. Both of the MCUs that you've mentioned have 40 pins. So, you can place them directly on the zif socket of the programmer. If your programmer software detects the chip and you can read the chips with your software, the chips will be QC passed.
