Mplabx support for PicKit4 - do all versions of Mplabx support it?
«

I'm temporarily using a PicKit4 for a customer on my own pc.
I run Mplabx 3.35 and it's not recognising the PicKit4. Does anyone know off hand if Mplabx 3.35 supports the PK4?
I can't find any info on if there was a point at which Mplabx doesn't support / supports the PK4. The PK4 does not show up as a programmer option and I cannot find a specific installation tool or driver for it.
I'm happy with Mplabx3.35 and don't want to update if not necessary.
Cheers.

Very confusing...
Quotes from the Microchip web site:
https://www.microchip.com/developmenttools/ProductDetails/PG164140#additional-summary
"
The MPLAB PICkit 4 now has Programmer-to-Go functionality for 8-bit, 16-bit and 32-bit PIC MCUs and dsPICs and also SAM MCU devices.
The firmware update comes with
MPLAB X IDE v5.30
. AVR is expected soon!
"
"
System Requirements.
MPLAB X IDE version 4.15
or later (version 5.30 or later for programmer-to-go functionality, except for AVR devices)
"
Note.
I have a old Win XP machine and I believe MPLAB X 3.35 is the last supported version for XP.

Many thanks for your response Mark, I don't seem to be able to find info like that as easily as I used to!
Looks like I need to update MPLABX.
cheers and thanks again for your help.

It's the "programmer to go" feature that requires 5.3. Basic PIC programming requires 4.15 (I guess - I haven't used it with PICs yet.)
Using PICKit4 with an AVR or ARM pretty much requires the very latest (5.3), or perhaps "the next release" :-(
