Wanted: unknown loudness/balance/on-off control order code
« on: July 02, 2012, 03:29:55 pm »
Hi.
I have this combined part which consists of variable resistor (balance control), rotary incremental encoder (volume control) and tactile button (on-off switch):

( [!] It's after I've took apart on this photo.)

And I am looking for any information about this part's model number or ordering code or anything else that can help me buy a new one. I know it's probably totally custom model, but maybe there are some compatible device (tell me it's part number, if so).

This device is volume/balance regulator from Delco CRD500 car radio / CD-player.

Sorry, I have no any photo of this thing not cracked open. But I have few teardown-like photos (actually it is my how-to-fix article written in russian language): http://vk.com/note2212760_11254020

looks like an LJV design ... see if you can find the letter LJV engraved on one of the metal parts.
you're not going to find that. These are all custom. Delco is only a 'name'. the radio is designed for Delphi corporation. ( general motors )
probably made in mexico ...

No, I remember it perfectly: no one label neither printed nor engraved on it. I was looking for any label to identify this part, but... nothing.

That most likely true :( By the way, looks like all components of this device is standard. Cause there are other regulators (tembre, rear-front balance) compiled from same "bricks" but in other order and amount.
And I hope to find at least footprint-compatible part:
Code: [Select]

Right. My own CDR500 was made in Mexico. And yes, there are also VDO-branded models on the market. Don't even know do they uses same regulator in VDO CDR500 models.

Hm! Thanks! Their products look similar to mine broken device.

Actually the problem of this product is very breakable tiny slim metal feelers inside it. I have repeired it last year (and described repair process in the article) but our cold winter made its work. Those tiny metal parts inside it did not survive outdoor temperature below –30°C.

Looks like I found it:
http://www.linjve.com/en/product_view.asp?productId=850

But 3d model view looks quite compressed (by deep axis):

The real one looks more long/depth.

Okay, I have extracted my unlucky device from car and disassembled it again:

The bottommost is the part we talking about.

This metal plate bended around regulator is not factory solution. It's my way to keep all those twenty component of regulator together. I turned it around and soldered both ends together.

Overall look of regulator:

As you can see it looks slightly different from LJV picture (see above).

Now most important thing. Don't even know how could I miss it this labels previous time, but...
It is not true that there aren't any label on this part. There are two!

First one is located on a top of balance-potentiometer component:

M20KB. My guess is that 20K means resistance of variable resistor and B means linear law.

And the second one is located on the rear end of regulator (tactile button component):

JAPAN
Pana
  <and some sort of logotype>

Yellow subtance leftovers is EVA (hot melt glue).

So after I found "JAPAN" mark I event more doubt it was manufactured by Linjve.
