[suggest] flash, eprom, eeprom, programmer
« on: September 09, 2013, 12:33:35 pm »
i need to program {flash, eprom, eeprom}
in parallel and serial bus {spi, i2c}
in 3.3V and 5V range

i have to immediately program
- EN25Q64 (SPI)
- MX25L8005PC-15G (SPI)
- 24Cxx (I2C)
- 27040 and similar 27xxx (PARALLEL)

What do you think about galep5 ?
It is incredibly full of features (jtag, too) but it costs ~$400

the "EZP2010" is a low cost SPI Programmer only for {24Cxx / 25Cxx / 93Cxx / 25L}
it costs $20, what do you think about it ?

"TRUE USB GQ-4X" should be an universal EEPROM FLASH programmer
it is developed by "MCUmall" and it is $100
here it is the device support list

let me know!

You can grab a pic16 or pic18 and a max232 or ftdi chip for usb to serial and make your own programmer for a few dollars... or you can get a pic18 dev board with the pickit3 for about 40-50$.

spi and i2c are easy... a microcontroller has no problems doing them. Parallel is also easy with a bit of trickery (shift registers or something if needed)

Also eprom needs particular hight voltage and peak timing programming, not all the flash are CFI, so ... it is easy to say "it can be done", a lot of time to make it really running. Also you have to think about the Application user interface, etc etc

Although I personally don't have one, check Dave's review of the TL866 - it seems to be very decent for the price.

Oh, the "whys" of the datasheets... The information is there not to be an axiomatic truth, but instead each speck of data must be slowly inhaled while carefully performing a deep search inside oneself to find the true metaphysical sense...
