Fiber optic temperature measurements.
« on: February 03, 2022, 02:32:05 pm »
Hi!
I got a new project for a client measuring the temperatur inside a subsea umbelical.
The test is to measure the temperature during diffrent configurations of load and layers on a cable reel.
All the load on the cable is more or less under controll. I got the main parts figgured out, but not the temperature measurement.

Can anybody give me some reccomandations for test gear measuring the temperature through the internal fibre optics in the cable?
I have not yet got any info about if its SM or MM fibre, but normally our client are using SM fibre.

It sounds like you are looking for a fibre optic DTS? Before I (semi) retired, I spent 20 years or so working in this field, mostly in the oil & gas industry, including SURF applications. I'm not involved now, but I do still have contacts. Please PM me!
