Recommended releable cal labs in Europe
« on: January 10, 2020, 11:27:30 pm »
Hi to all !
I think it would be useful to have information about affordable reliable calibration labs for hobbists in europe.
In some countries (such as mine) there are only calibration labs which does not provide calibration+adjustment service.
Tell good/bad experience you had calibrating your instrument.
Optional info: instrument model, performed adjustments and/or repairs, price of service.

In Sweden, I can recommend Nanocal https://nanocal.se/en/
If you want adjustment as well, it is included in the price. and you get calibration reports with measurement values before/after adjustment.
I adjusted and calibrated my Agilent 34410A that was +17ppm on 10VDC, it costed 1075 SEK (incl. 25% tax) which equals 100 Euro.
They used Datron 4808, Agilent 33250A Function/Arbitrary Generator and General Radio 1409-Y Standard Capacitor during calibration.

Interesting. It's a shame they are so far away (I'm in Stockholm) but it sounds like they offer a service that a hobbyist can actually afford.

I'd love to get my Solartron 7075 calibrated. It's stable, but fairly obviously way out of calibration on some ranges and functions. Considering its age, it would probably stay calibrated for a long time after being adjusted and would serve as a superb transfer standard for the rest of my equipment.

The biggest problem is finding a courier which I'd actually trust to ship the Solartron to Gotland and back... Maybe I should plan a week's relaxation in Visby before the tourist season starts.

Thank you again for this recommendation. I've just spent the last few days in Visby together with Kjell (the guy who owns Nanocal) getting my Solartron 7061 7.5 digit meter calibrated and adjusted and calibrating my various voltage references and precision resistors.

I paid a very reasonable price for the calibration and Kjell is someone who is genuinely interested in the field that he works in. You could say he's a volt-nut's volt nut!

My only problem at the moment seems to be getting back home from Gotland as they keep cancelling my ferry departures.  :-DD

Here's my 7061 meeting the accuracy of the Datron 4808.

The meter was out on approximately the ranges that I suspected:

After adjustment, everything was looking just fine:
