The 3458a DEFKEY configuration thread

Hi,

To inspire each other on useful DEFKEY settings for 3458a suggest people post their typical standard settings here. Also feel free to share some special use case DEFKEY settings.

For me:
1 - Temp?
2 - Cal?
3 - NDIG 8 ; NPLC 100

7 - MATH STAT
8 - MATH SDEV
9 - MATH OFF

4 to 6 changes around as needed.

So far I have set keys for TEMP?, MATH NULL and DELAY 0.5

I just state the settings needed in the procedure.

I still have plenty to learn from this bit of kit.

You know you're a metrologist when you start defining the keys on your 3458A...

The Fluke-ified HP3458A HFL had it's keys programmed thusly:

0 - SETACV SYNC
1 - LFILTER OFF
2 - SCALE
3 - RMATH LOWER
4 - RMATH MEAN
5 - RMATH SDEV
6 - RMATH UPPER
7 - MATH NULL
8 - MATH STAT
9 - MATH OFF

I always defined mine as

0 - MATH OFF
1 - MATH NULL
2 - MATH STAT
3 - RMATH MEAN
4 - MATH RMS
5 - DELAY

(And I even affixed small labels to the removable key definition templates that used to be supplied with 3458As).
I never used the other functions enough to have to do a DEFKEY assignment...

I have small labels (dymo) to indicate above the buttons.
