Z3801A LEDs on main board
« on: January 06, 2024, 01:48:06 am »
Does anyone know what the row of 6 LEDs on the main board are for?

Just found this so question answered!

The six LEDs are:
1. 'Boot code' if ON, Normal if Flashing, 'broken' if OFF
2. EPROM failure
3. CPU failure
4. RAM failure
5. UART failure
6. QSPI, FPGA, interpolator, GPS, power failure

In normal operation all should be off except #1 which should be flashing. Above is from page 6-29 of the Symmetricom 55300A User's Guide.

Cheers,

Corby

Corby, I was going to suggest that you check k8cu.com but it looks like
that site is no longer available. The information that was there is still
available by searching for Z3801A, but you have probably found that
already. That's just about everything available, technical info just isn't
anywhere to be found. There have been a few attempts to reverse
engineer with a little success, but nothing really helpful. I have two
and have been lucky in that I've had no problems over the 20 years
I've had them.
