Air Data Test Set Calibration
« on: July 26, 2024, 03:19:15 am »
Has anyone had any experience with Calibrating Druck ADTS Model 405 Air Data Test Sets?

IIRC there wasn't nothing that special other than having to deal with military/aerospace  and needing primary standard level gas pressure balance/dead weight tester.

Do you remember anything about Error and Message Codes?

I have been repairing SMPS in a number of these and then checking Controller Stability, Vacuum Leak and Pressure Leak.

I have one that is displaying Message 303 after power up.

"ZERO OFFSET TO LARGE"

I was curious as to whether this problem would be resolved with a calibration of the ADTS.

Manual would suggest that way. But in this case calibration means adjustment. Unfortunately the available service manual doesn't go into details what the "main calibration" consists of.
Units I'm familiar with have passed the calibration(verification) without adjustments.

We often calibrate (and adjust) ADTS405s.
I don't have any currently in the lab with that error to confirm the repair path, but I certainly recall seeing it numerous times in the past. Performing a calibration adjustment to better align the Ps and Pt sensors is worthwhile, and should hopefully correct the error.  If the root cause is sensor failure or instability, it may not be succesful or may return after a short time, but we generally find them to have quite reliable resonant sensors (a strong point for Druck).
