Need to find switch manufacturer in China
« on: August 25, 2022, 04:11:38 pm »
Hello,
I am working on a project with a board that will be assembled in China by PCBWay, and am having a HUGE problem finding a switch for it.
I have found switches such as the CHZJLG LG-15H, or the 1208B-YD, but need to get the manufacturer's data sheet so I can make the holes in the PCB match the switch.  This is a link to the type switch I am looking for:

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/2251832398961961.html?gatewayAdapt=4itemAdapt
Of course, aliexpress doesn't give you any info on the manufacturer.
Also, one outfit that seemed to make these (China Jialong Electronics) seems to have gone out of business at calonsw.com, lots of dead links to them.
Does anybody know a good link for this type switch?  These are push-on/push-off type switches, like are used in flashlights.
Some other makers are ELEABC, Kasuki  and SHGAOHE.
We are going to need about 2500 units/year.
Thanks much for any pointers!
Jon

Look around on LCSC:
https://lcsc.com/products/Tactile-Switches_427.html
The manufacturers info is available.

https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/1208yd-flashlight-switch-2-feet-small_1600094835627.html

If the datasheet is not already on LCSC as mentioned, I'm sure its on alibaba or the supplier will provide it to you.

Try Global Sources. I have used that site to find suppliers for a few different things and got what I ordered and at a reasonable price.
Just put in an order for a few different switches today, so hopefully all goes well.

I didn't find the manufacturer, but found a seller with drawings on their product page.

For me, Taobao is the best place to find anything. Not everything is being offered outside of China if it's not something the crowd scream to be sold outside. And Taobao search can even use your photo to find the item you want.

Shouldn't this be a flag that maybe you should redesign the board to use a different button?

I mean what's so special about that particular button, the leads coming out the sides, the big knob that could come out the plastic case of your product, maybe you want to make a hole in your pcb and put the body of the switch into the hole so that the leads are flat on the board and soldered to it?

There's plenty of surface mount or through hole buttons that can replicate the size and functionality of that switch...

I can't read Chinese, so i have NO IDEA how to navigate their site.  I see a jar of mixed nuts at that link!

The parametric search has no column for "latching", which is what we call in the US "push-on/push-off" or "alternate action",  unless I missed it.
They also have mysterious columns like "Strike gundam" and "brick nogging".  I think the brick nogging means it has molded bumps on the back so it sits above the PC board for cleaning underneath.

As you said you have to make the holes in the PCB match the switch, I think it is enough if you can read the drawings I have attached.

You don't need to read Chinese to view that. The drawing is in image format. And it's a very clear drawing too. So are expecting people to upload the image here for you?

Well, for PCBWay to buy these parts, they will need to know the manufacturer.  They want to buy direct from the factory and bypass the middleman.  This is for an order of 2500 boards.  And, of course, the middleman does NOT WANT you to bypass them.

That's the wrong category for latching switches anyway. You want "Push Switches": https://lcsc.com/products/Push-Switches_425.html

They also have mysterious columns like "Strike gundam" and "brick nogging".  I think the brick nogging means it has molded bumps on the back so it sits above the PC board for cleaning underneath.

I made a thread a while ago about just this phenomenon of weird naming: https://www.eevblog.com/forum/chat/where-does-all-the-weird-chinese-component-terminology-come-from/

But "Strike Gundam" is new one! :D

Try TONEPARTS in China. Have met them numerous times at past trade fairs. They are a 20+ year old switch manufacturer. Their website is lame but rest assured, they manufacture many many different models of switches which they bring to the trade fairs.

Sharing the details and contact is OLIVE.

Just as an FYI, you need to be logged in to see all the details, which requires something like authentication with an SMS message. No big deal, but necessary.
