Neoden4 PnP - Streamlining assembly file export/import
« on: June 12, 2018, 02:30:09 pm »
I just recently set up a Neoden4 PnP and the company I work for uses Altium as our PCB design platform. While going through the setup and placing components on the trial board, I noticed that the process for exporting the .csv assembly file and then copying and pasting the fields into the supplied sample file is a bit tedious every time I want to export/import a new assembly.

My current process is as follows:
1.) Export the .csv file from Altium
2.) Open the .csv file that was just exported in Excel
3.) Convert the angle to a 0-180 and 0-(-180) degrees using an excel formula
4.) Open the sample .csv file supplied by Neoden
5.) Copy & Paste in the relevant information columns from the Altium export into the Neoden template
6.) Run switch cases to identify nozzles based on footprint/feeder(manually entered)
7.) Save the updated template to USB
8.) Import on PnP
9.) Setup PnP to specific build requirements

Does anyone have any recommendations, or solutions, to streamline this process?

Thank you!

- Jon

Write some simple software to convert direct from your PCB software's output to the format the N4 wants.
Use "fid" components to mark the PCB fiducials, so these can be translated into reference points for the N4 system.
Make sure your PCB library rotations correspond consistently to tape/feeder orientations.
Ideally include a library of nozzle types for each footprint type so these can be allocated by your software automatically.
You'll probably want to include panelisation in your software as well.

Send me an example of the Neoden CSV's and I will add it to PCBSynergy
I have added a first go at the format, which is not up on my webpage
I might add that PCBSynergy reads the Altium ASCII format which will shorten your setup considerably.
The new NeoDen exporter also deals with the rotation requirements of NeoDen.

PCBSynergy is available
here:= https://pcbsynergy.com

I can be contacted on the address on the webpage

About export file process, may we know the version of your Altium?
If need any support, pls write us directly.

And the  PCBSynergy from Sarason looks very helpful,we will send him our file and ask him to add this in his list.
Will be more convenient for other customer.

Thanks and best regards
