Also drain your tank!
Even with a seperator in the airtube there will remain condensed water in the tank it self.
This adds significantly to the moisture in the air.

I do it manually once a week but should do it after each cycle but forget it a lot, result is rust in the tank.
There are automated drainers but they can be diy made quite easily, all that is needed is a high pressure valve about 1.5 times the pressure of your tank, some pipes into a storage can and a timer that operates the valve for two seconds with intervals depending on your usage.

Its completly your choice if you dry your air or not.   Since i have many tens of thousands of dollars of Yamaha CL feeders, with accuators on them that have air quality specifications, i'll use a proper dryer, so they continue to operate properly.
THose water traps will catch any water in the line that has condensed out. It wont' remove the moisture that is in the air, which will condense on any cold ( relative to the air temp ) surface.
If your equipment manufacturer advises that it is not a requirement to use a dry air source, make sure that they will cover any warranty issues due to wet air damage.
That is a sensible precaution since your CL feeders have requirements for low moisture air.
I won't get any CL feeders (only push feeders) and the requirement is to install this type of simple water separator.

I do get your point though. I do want to limit moisture enough to ensure reliable operation.

One thought regarding a simple low cost solution:
If I attach a tube to the compressor air inlet and have the other end close to the floor, there should be a temperature gradient in the room with colder temperatures near the floor. This should in theory reduce the moisture to a condensation point below the temperature of the P&P that is placed 1,2m higher. Therefore the temperature of the P&P components will not be below the temperature of the air at the compressor intake. In theory this should prevent the air cooling off to a temperature lower than the dew point. I mean, where should the added moisture come from?

I'm under the impression that the compressor doesn't add any moisture to the air, so you just have to take care that is doesn't cool below the air intake temperature, but maybe I'm missing something here?  :-//

I'm planning to mount the machine directly to the wall with solid brackets to minimize vibration during operation.
Do you have technical drawings of the machine with dimensions?
Attaching the machine stand to the wall is basically a good idea, but make sure you can access your machine from at least three sides (south, west, north). Leaning over the machine while you try to fiddle a tape into the feeder is a major PITA, and Murphy dictates that it is always the tape which is furthest away and hardest to reach that breaks.

Yes, that's a good point. I'll have to give this some careful thought because I'm chronically out of space in my hobby room. :palm:

I was planning to anchor two angle supports that will carry 250kg each to the brick wall with expansion screws. This would leave it flying above a working table where I currently have a 3D printer.

One challenge is the height. I need to get the top surface low enough to easily reach in, but I also need to get it high enough to leave room for the reels. I need to be able to replace one reel without touching the others, so if I make a tray or a bucket for the reels I need enough free space above the bucket to remove and replace a reel. If I hang the reels on the machine it will take less space, but I will need to 3D print individual holders for each reel to be able to remove them individually.

The most difficult access will be the north feeders facing the wall. The trouble is that I don't have a good drawing with dimensions, so I don't know the detailed dimensions like distance from top to bottom of the machine etc.

It would have been nice with a 3D file of the machine. I don't need any internal details - just the external dimensions of the machine. We do that for our customers, providing a single block step file with the right outside dimensions and mounting holes. Just an idea.  :-+

I don't know when I will get it, but I will propably have to wait until I get it before I can prepare the lab and reel holders.

I updated our company information because tired of answering repeating questions about this from my best friend Andrew.

https://www.smallsmt.biz/about-1/

on the bottom it says "We hold a private owned company!"

Who is We?    You keep saying the company is owned by Wu Juan,  ( Sunny ).. But a search shows that the capital is 10,000RMB, 70% owned by Juan Wu, and 30% owned by another person.    Youv'e said 'hold' which in terms of companys means ownership.

Why does your company pay the money to a personal bank account?   Is it becuase you do not hold a Chinese COmpany bank account licence?

I am back from Nuernberg SMTconnect exhibition.

I dislike to hijack the other thread so this is my reply on several questions and statements there.

Michael's little lesson on business models.

To date we have sold more than 150 machines and mainly satisfied customers. In some cases, every supplier has problems which can be traced back to customers or suppliers.
Either the thing does not correspond to the conceptions of the customer or it requires more work to become acquainted.
Many things lead to a satisfied or dissatisfied customer.
We strive to support our customers to the best of our ability and offer support at no cost.
Nobody is perfect, we strive to treat our customers as friends.
What's important to us:
- We work with our Chinese partners like friends and don't squeeze their prices.
- Workers must be paid fairly
- Only high-quality original parts are used to build machines

STANDARD BUSINESS MODEL
If a manufacturer wants to sell its products, other costs are incurred in addition to the production costs:
- development costs
- production costs
- documentation costs
- audit costs
- selling expenses
- advertising expenses
- Warranty Provisions
- service costs
- currency translation risk

If we now sell this product with a company in Germany, you pay at least 100% surcharge on the production costs.
For example, 10000usd production costs now sold at 13500usd minus discounts.
Sold from Germany 20000usd minus discounts.

CURRENT SALES MODEL
Our current sales model is direct sales with low overheads at low prices.
The customer is provided with email / web remote offers.
In warranty cases, the possible faults of the machine are determined in communication with the customer, then the spare parts are provided free of charge and the customer takes over the assembly.
The customer has to make his own efforts, but saves the costs for expensive services in advance. However, the machines are designed to be absolutely service-friendly so that the customer can also carry out this work.
Documents supporting a repair are available for expected service work.

NEW SERVICES COMING SOON!
We will offer different sales models in the future.
In countries with distributors we will keep an area protection and allow the sellers with the pricing up to 25% surcharge.
This also means that nobody can buy a machine directly from us anymore if a distributor installed in your region, e.g. from America.
Additional service options can soon be ordered and paid for in Germany as well:
- Installation and instruction on site.
- On-site training.
- Service and repairs on site.
We will also provide these services through our distributors in the target countries.

Very simple.   Limited liablity company, owned by four shareholders.   No secrets there, its all public information.   Started out working on the kitchen table at home.  Now have production, in our own factory, and also some work is outsourced where its apropriate.

Please cite that..  ( Where did i state that i'm an expert in PNP ).      I'd love to know.

What i've shared about PNP is based on my expereince using them. I've used Juki / Yamaha and TVM's. and also spent a good amount of time looking at others systems.  Made lots of mistakes, and figured out how to get around them.

Packethead,

Is there any chance you could leave the guy alone? You're sceptic of him/them. That's clear to me, the rest of the forum and anyone who might stumble upon any of the threads featuring SmallSMT in this forum. Unless you've been living under a rock, anyone who's considering one of their machines will keep your concerns in mind.

Maybe that's enough?
