Enamelled copper wire datasheet
« on: May 05, 2023, 07:40:14 am »
Hi,
Do you know of any enamelled copepr wire datasheet other than the following?
https://www.farnell.com/datasheets/3705631.pdf

Is there an AWG version?...or any others?

ie, with a family of wires, of increasing diameter, in the table, so you can use it to wind formers.

I mean, you can find web pages like the following..
https://www.wires.co.uk/acatalog/SX_0140_0180.html

....which give all kinds of diameters of ECW, but it doesnt tell you the max outer diameter, and doesnt tell you the ohms/metre....so you simply cannot reliably use it to design a winding schedule with..

A quick search for datasheets and pdf's for enamelled copper wire brings up a lot of results. Below is one of them:

https://www.scottprecisionwire.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Enamelled-Wire2.pdf

And they will all be made of copper, so you can pretty much use any datasheet or table for the resistance per meter (or use some calculator).
There is quite some difference between different wire brands. Different kind of lacqures are used. Some are optimised for easy solderability, and others are for high temperature applications and may be more difficult to solder. Some even use two layers of lacque, and it may be of two different kinds of laquer too.

Thanks, i like that Scott enam wire datasheet...has more diameters than the one i showed....also showed the insulation rating.
Just a  shame they dont say who is their distributor....ive emailed them to see how i can buy there wire in small qtys for prototyping.

Woudl be great if there were more Insulated Litz wire datasheets...other than TEXELZ which we all know and love.
