Melf resistors roll off the pads
« on: July 22, 2023, 11:51:44 am »
Hi,
We have been told not to use MELF resistors, MMA0204, MMB0207 because they  "roll about"...surely they get stuck in the solder paste and dont role?

They don't role for me. I passed their role on to pulse rated chips or THTs.

If you're having problems, consider a glue step.  More of a wave than reflow thing though.

You can also have the stencil for paste designed witha  u shape, the inside of the U stops the parts from rolling and as the solder melts it still goes onto the part and rest of the pad

I have done that when using MELF components in the past and have not had any issues with them rolling off
