JLCPCB now do Aluminium PCBs!
« on: June 30, 2021, 10:17:10 am »
I just saw today JLCPCB are now offering low cost MCPCBs! I need to get a few orders in to compare against PCBWay, but this seems really good value. https://jlcpcb.com/cyt

Sadly at the moment, no ENIG finish or higher thermal conductivity options but this makes high power PCBs a bit more accessible to hobbyists.

Looks like even a large PCB comes in at a reasonable price. Shipping obviously increases the cost significantly though

To do any thermal calculation, the 1W/mK spec is meaningless without knowing the dielectric's thickness.
Does anyone know?

So far this is the only discussion that I have found that acknowledges the significance of the dielectric's thickness.

Quick search gave some results. Run through your favorite translation program/plugin.

From that order.jlc.com/ link.
" thermal insulation: is a layer of low thermal resistance thermal insulation material, thickness of 2-8mil"

PCBway say 120um for their 2W/mK material. Who really knows?

Next thing to deal with is how much heat spreading the copper contributes.
