Footprint / pattern for stack-up check?
« on: November 27, 2019, 12:39:07 pm »
I remember seeing in one of Dave's tear down videos of some old HP gear (if I remember correctly) that the designers had put a neat footprint on the PCB so they could double check the layer stack-up after it came back from the fab. Anyone have any clues as to what that might look like? I would like to use a similar pattern.

TIA, Alan

Make a rectangle and make sure there is no soldermask or copper in it except for a number on each layer. Spread the numbers out so they don't obstruct the view of each other.

For negative layers (probably soldermask and power planes) place fills to remove the material.
