Finding parts on JLCPCB
« on: June 28, 2024, 05:24:12 pm »
I am pulling my hair out.

I go to the parts search and start entering constraints.  They do not show me the results!  I could understand this when there are 100000 results or so.  But "Results remaining: 2".   !  What are they?

What possible use is a search function if you can't see the results?

Would someone please share with me the magic workflow needed to find a part?

You mean LCSC?
What part are you looking for?

Not much you can do as their is a lot of data fields missing for many of the parts, or not entered correctly.
Profile -> Modify profile -> Look and Layout ->  Don't show users' signatures

Button 'Apply' should apply your search criteria and show result

If you mean lcsc, just click the blue Apply button in the top row of the filter, then you should see the filtered parts list below the filter.

The parts search system on JLCPCB is sister version of the LCSC parts system.  If one fails then try the other, then use the part numbers starting with the letter 'C' to find things between systems.

I last used the JLCPCB parts system a couple of years back and it was rather buggy.

I mean JLCPCB.  Rather buggy is an understatement.

It would have me believe there are NO basic capacitors.  At all.

Then I sometimes get a red "Forbidden" next to an empty search box.

Thanks for the tip on checking the sister site.

Edit:  No lookup up basic library parts here.  Which was one of my objectives.  For Jellybean stuff, I shouldn't have to pay an extended part fee.

Thank you for your feedback. We will optimize our parts search process. Could you please provide your order number?
We will follow up with you regarding this issue soon. Your feedback is invaluable for improving our search function~

Have you tried a 3rd party search / database like this one?
Be sure to click the green "Update the component library" button at the top of the page before starting your search.

Query shows 90 results for "basic" capacitors and 41224 for extended.

One problem I have with JLCPCB search is that when I list 'basic' resistors, to find the closest one to what I need, the list doesn't show the values and requires examining each item separately which is very tedious.  Please see picture below.

Would be great if you can make the values visible. Extra points sorting by value and/or filtering by range.

Just go directly to LCSC's page. The search there is better.

Or use the 3rd party search tool I linked above if you want to filter Extended vs Basic.

I tried maybe 3 times to inform JLC's customer service that the basic parts are messed up. It happened about a month ago, when the basic parts went from 700 different BOM items to 7000, with 6300 not in stock. Apparently, it's all fine and I'm a dumbdumb who doesn't know how to use the website.  >:(

Thanks for the link to the yaqwsx search tool. I thought JLCPCB had cut it off from data access a while ago, didn't realize it is back online.

But I have not figured out how to use that tool to find e.g. "the closest resistor value available as a Basic part". If I select "chip resistors" as the category and "basic" in the property filters, the results list will immediately show all basic resistors -- great, but it does not include a "value" column by which I could sort. And while the property filters also include one for "resistance", nicely sorted by value -- it always shows all available values, not just those for the basic parts.

Is there a trick I am overlooking which lets me see basic resistors by value?

I don't have an order yet, I'm still picking parts.  Things are working better with these other tools.  I have also had better luck navigating to the "basic parts" page directly and starting my search over each time.

Edit:  Please put metric/imperial next to the package sizes.  I'm looking at an 0603 package...   Or give us the footprints and symbols.  I don't use EasyEDA.  Maybe this is obvious to everyone else...

It took me a while to get used to. I don't type anything into the search.

Scroll down to resistors and click ALL.

Then scroll to the property filter where you can select Basic/Extended, case style, resistance, etc.

Then just scroll to the bottom of the page for the results. (I don't know why it didn't just show 805 size)

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, that is exactly what I did. If I select my preferred resistance value from the property filter, I may get lucky and that value is available as a basic part -- then I'm all set.

But if that value is not available as a basic part, the property filter will not tell me which (close) values are basic parts. And when I leave the resistance property filter at "all", the results list can unfortunately not be ordered by resistor value to look for a close value: There is no separate column for the value, and the logic for part numbers is such that the different decades get intermixed when you sort by part number.

My preferred solution would be that all property filters get updated as soon as you set some filter criteria, greying out those values which are not available within the pre-filtered selection. That's how e.g. Mouser's parts search works. But it might be difficult and/or CPU-intensive to implement?

You can select a range of values. Click the lowest acceptable resistance and then scroll to the highest acceptable resistance and "shift click" it.  (Hold shift while clicking)
