IDE drive to SCSI controller?

I'm a bit slow in understanding this

Will this allow a PATA/IDE hard drive to masquerade as SCSI device so I can connect it to a SCSI controller?

From googling "acard AEC-7722" I found the product pages at Amazon and Newegg.

From the product description and user reviews, it only works for IDE ATAPI optical drives to SCSI hosts.

Ah I get it now, the one I'd want is 2.5 laptop drive to SCSI and the price is too stupid even for me. Another useless C64 project goes back in the IKEA shelf.

SCSI/IDE adapters for harddisks used to be painfully expensive; don't remind me of the one I imported from Japan several years ago... BlueSCSI is a relatively recent, lower cost option. It is open source, so you can start by having your own bare PCBs made, but the website also lists various sellers who offer complete units (and maybe kits?): https://bluescsi.com/

Disclaimer: BlueSCSI seems very popular these days and I have read good things about it in vintage computing forums, but I habve not used one myself.

Well I already have a SCSI controller for Commodore, the Rear Admiral. I just wanted to use another type of HD with it for nostalgia reasons.

Ah, sorry, I had things mixed up there. The BlueSCSI does not connect SCSI to a physical IDE drive, but to drive images on an SD card only. Is that what the Rear Admiral does as well?

Why not use a SCSI to SD / MMC card controller?
2 or 3 exist in use with Amigas.  SCSI on one side, your SD card on the other which emulates a normal SCSI hard disc.
