Also that membrane box is most certainly not IP65 rated in the fitted configuration, as I can see the wooden joist through the screw hole for starters. I also see no way of positively securing the lid.

This is the English-language catalogue page for the box: https://www.se.com/ww/en/product-range/60405-mureva-surface-mounted-boxes/  -- it is a Mureva white without strain relief. It is explicitly claimed to maintain IP65 with the click-on lid.

They say nothing on special mounting instructions. I guess I'll have to get the hose out and start watering.  (It should be noted that the protection class rating, unless it's IP68, which is not claimed, says that water must not get in in dangerous amounts. Not that water tightness is required. Yes, it's hair splitting. )

EDIT: Yes, we throw the connector block away and use Wagos. In fact, newer ones come with three 3-way Wagos in a bracket.

That is a wise move.

Anyone knows the difference between the HP 5316A and 5316B? All I can see from looking in the manuals is that the A can be fitted with option 006, a maths function.

I looked at  https://www.testequipmenthq.com/datasheets/Keysight-5316B-Datasheet.pdf  where there's a lot of comparing with 5315. I then went to my only [hp] catalogue, 1984 edition, where 5316A is the latest and greatest. Again, it's compared to 5315, and yes, the only thing I can see differing from the B model is that Option 006.

Finally got to appreciate the installation in proper darkness. (No, it's not a Lucas Electric system!)

It does look like a nice light, even if it unites the wire-nuts and the Wago-men in complaining about product development. (and produces some justified complaints about cable angles.)

Edit: This is a 3,4W 3000K LED bulb.

Oh, I like to think so, yes. Bought another 100-box of plastic clips today, so I can fix the cabling properly.

Made some progress today with the Thandar SC110 mini portable scope, stripped it down for fault-finding and after a good long coat of looking at under magnification I have so far failed to find a smoking gun, it really all looks pretty good to me. All the solder joints that are visible without further stripping seem to be in good condition, maybe I might find something lurking beneath the vertical and horizontal board once I remove it, who knows.

I find a few caps with small holes in them, but they exhibit zero outward signs of suffering, the holes appear to have been there from new  :-//.

Here a few pics so far, I doubt that I shall be working on it tomorrow as I shall be over at Hangar 11 collection, working on that Ferguson TE20 tractor restoration.

That tant on the far left. What is that black at the base?  And it looks like it has a crack in it.

Today I finally got that board disconnected and removed and that tant with the black bit on the bottom is perfectly OK. It turned to be solder flux as that leg is top soldered only, I found that in the manual, after I had removed it and tested it.

Still have no sweep, although I have been able to prove that the timebase is running OK and producing a sawtooth wave form and the various time/div positions are all working OK and varying the frequency as it should do. It seems that the problem now resides on the main board, so need to investigate that more. I had thought that the X amplifier was on the plug-in daughter board, but that is just the Y amplifier which is OK according to the observations I have made. That will be another day.

Good deal that the timebase is running. It will make troubleshooting much easier once you gain access to the horizontal amplifier. Simply track that ramp waveform through the horizontal and where it disappears is your issue.

I sympathize with you on trying to get access to everything. The Tek 212 mini scope was a challenge too but yours seems much worse. If I ever see one on Ebay over here remind me to stay away.  ;D

I wonder if the NLS (Non Linear Systems) mini scopes are just as difficult to get apart and troubleshoot? They sometimes show up on Ebay but tend to have ridiculous prices.

Well lookie here. There's an NLS mini-scope on Ebay right now. No current bids. Starting at $55 USD. 2 days left.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/175200523795?hash=item28cac3d613:g:EnQAAOSwuUViL4CN

There's some pictures of the inside and access doesn't look bad at all. Too bad the TE budget at the moment is shot.  :-//

Yep, access is far better than that on the SC110 and I'll wager, it is better than your 212 mini scope?

All the bastard tants checked out OK as did all the electrolytics, although  I did replace 2 electrolytics because they seemed slightly high on the ESR. It looks to me as if the scope has hardly been used. People slag off Sinclair products, but you know this puppy is really quite well engineered, its biggest failure was having the battery pack. They could have used the space taken up by that pack to house the circuitry on the daughter boards, and then it would be a hoot to diagnose and fix as access would be a breeze.

Heh... I was watching The Incredible Hulk tonight; the 2008 release with Edward Norton is one of my guilty pleasures. Despite all the rotten tomatoes bad rap, it tried very hard to capture the soul of the Bill Bixby Hulk I grew up with on TV, and for that both have a special place in my heart. ;)

Anyhoo... to the point: I'm aboot 99% positive I saw a 500-series scope in his lab for half a second before the explosion in that fateful scene. Not sure which one, but I know the 547 is a favorite of propmasters since the days of black & white, so probably that.  :-+

Ok, but what is it? Lighted pig pen?

No, it's the side of our porch. The porch floor is level with the house floor which is at this place about 1,2 meter above ground.
