looks like I got myself an HP 6271B for about 77€ incl. shipping.
Let's hope it does not need too much rework ...

A quick Heads-Up from the Tool-Dwagon: I just picked up the Dremel 711-01 accessory kit at Wally World for CAD$13 (price in-store; it's still US$23 online); it's got a good assortment of all the stuff you use up and not a lot of the crap you don't.

30 of the cheap 1" cutoff wheels (+1 of the good 1.5" ones), 20 buffing pads with a little tub of rouge, 40 sanding drums, 45 sandpaper discs, 2x each style mandrel, plus 4x grindstones & 1/8" burr, and a Dremel wrench. Good value at that price, tho it looks like they've discontinued the set in favor of one with their damned quick-lock cutoff wheels. ::)

Cheers,

mnem

Badly corroded BNC jacks, I just replace them with nice shiny new ones.

Yep, the only acceptable solution if you ask me.

All depends on the "badly" part. Struggling a bit with finding middle ground between "its 40 years old, what do you expect" and wanting to present it in the nicest way possible. I agree that replacing them is always the best way, but it has to be at least a little economical ;)

is there anydremel out there ?

don't remind of of the dremel stuff. We got plenty of those rotting away in several dark places ...
No time to use them or government restrictions prohibiting us from doing the stuff we like.

Can't say that in my case; growing up on the farm. But damned sure a lot harder than I've worked in the last couple decades, no doubt. :palm:

Seems to me like the perfect means to while away a weekday afternoon; the Dremel is my indoor grinder. My outdoor ones are all packed away with my welder. >:D

my pinball projects are tucked away about 60 miles from here, and the complex is still under quarantine.
*sigh*
I need to get that stuff done, get my car out of storage and plan my vacation. currently it's about 10h of work/day...

Oh... I was thinking of your model rocketry stuff. Lots of potential for Dremel work there.  :-+

If you think of the clearly superior Proxxon ones, does it get better that way? :-DD

What do you mean? If I have one?
Yes, 3000. Not great, but Proxxon doesn't cut the mustard either. Still waiting for one from Fein!

If I could afford it, I'd buy a lathe from Weiler.

I have a monumental amount of gear on my doorstep right now, much of it older. A lot of corroded BNCs etc. So, what's your go-to solution for clearing that up?

Really, I hate it, when ebay (or other platforms) trying to think for me.  *grrrrr*    :horse:

I also had a quick sniff around that one but decided against it because I can do that with my Chinese function gen.

Nice, although I would be content with an Unimat 3 right now. At least until I have the shop, the power supply, the lifting equipment and the well sorted material stock to fit such a beast.
