Next project = buy more HP supplies  :-+

Next project = buy more HP supplies = get much bigger place = more rent = go broke.  :P :-DD

The trick is: buy tiny HP supplies.  :-DD

Edit:
Hey Spec: what is your opinion on all about this? :D
Don't know, really, I've never had anything to do with HP tiny supplies, my role in this to stir the pot and make the coffee  :-DD

Yeah, but a Nonna will run for upwards of 90 years with just a little olive oil lubrication every day, and perhaps occasional lubrication with a drop of Grappa.

The olive oil is for lubrication but the grappa is for power.  Nonna can run for days on a mason jar of grappa.  I knew someone years ago that used to distill his own grappa.  Ran out of gas for his lawn mower and finished the job with some grappa in the tank.

*sigh*
ebay was invented by the devil and I can hear him laughing while he's reading the TEA forum. *moan*  :palm:

I stumbled over this very nice looking Fluke 895A differential voltmeter in the UK:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/264655172175

It was priced with 472 Euro and I sent an offer of 300 Euro.
Got back an offer of 350 Euro and I accepted, because those meters are usually much more expensive in a good shape.

Well, I have already an 895A but in this there was a gorilla (as med would say):
 :palm:

Really, who is doing such things?  :--

It has also a burnmark on the PCB:

I hope the one from the UK is as good as it looks on the pictures and hasn't been abused as my poor little bugger.

Will do a teardown and take some pictures of it when it arrives.
Oh, and the one from UK is wired for 230V~, the one I already have is for 115V~, so this is an advantage as well.

I would tell you what I paid for my 895A but it would make you cry just a bit  :-DD Mine still needs to go through a proper clean and recap but the Chopper works which is the main thing.

Ah, lubrication as an allusion at a bit of British naval slang that perhaps hasn't travelled. A man is "well oiled" when, if he tries to stand up, his feet slip out from under him; three sheets to the wind, scuppered, bangaxed, Shipwrecked*.

* The capital letter is important. It refers not to things nautical but to Mr Stephen Shipside, a journo and former colleague who could take people out for a liquid lunch or some evening refreshment and manage to stay upright while everybody else became highly lubricated and consequentialy horizontal. The victims of this had been "Shipwrecked". This frequently happened to one Mr Manek Dubash - who is the kind of man who Googles his own name and so will find it mentioned here.

After taking a hard look at my project list and priorities, I am  looking for a new local home for my collection of Tektronix Series 500 scopes and plugins.  Here's the list:

R561B
531A
PLUGINS
- TYPE CA
- TYPE R
- 3A1
- 3A72 (3)
- 1A7A
- 3A74
- 3A6
- 3B3

The oscilloscope frames both work and both need to be adjusted and calibrated. I've tested the plugins and again, most of them already work. I haven't calibrated any of them. All of them are in good condition, having been carefully stored before I acquired them.

I am going to offer them here first before posting the list to Tekscope and Tekscope2. I am asking $175 for the whole set and though I prefer a buyer that will use rather than flip them, beggars can't be choosers and I don't have the energy to sell them piecemeal or deal with packing and shipping right now.

PM me if interested.  Thanks.

I recently received some Heathkit Laboratory Standard caps, LSC-1 and LSC-2. So I setup a temporary lab.

943860-0

My lab assistant measured the caps.

943864-1

We used 4 wire to 2 terminal setup.

943868-2

So 3 of the 14 caps were in tolerance.
4 more were ambiguous.
And the other 7 were OOT.

I assume the 1658 is correct or in tolerance. It cannot be adjusted. It was designed to be correct as built in the factory. (RTFM page Introduction 1-1 paragraph 3)
An old fart.

Apparently, people in Australia are buying a lot of toilet paper at the moment.

"Coronavirus panic: Why are people stockpiling toilet paper?"

Supermarkets Coles and Woolworths have stated there is plenty of stock, while the manufacturer of Kleenex toilet paper in the nation said it was now operating 24hr production lines to meet demand.

Double shift to produce more toilet paper!  :-DD

Mad Science in the Sunshine, Bug Spit and Alcohol my 20+ year old baggy of spit I found still works a treat ;D

It's standard Heathkit so it's probably wrong anyway :-DD

Literally every bit of Heathkit I've had is wrong in some way. That's what makes it so much fun :D

A long time ago, my chemistry teacher always called kitchen roll, 'elephant toilet paper' he was such a character - a really good teacher and communicator.

It is sort of test equipment (for bicycles) and meets the OCD requirements!
A bicycle spoke tension meter - to finalise the replacement of a broken spoke in a bike wheel. Retrieving the nut/nipple was nearly impossible as it was stainless ie not magnetic and the rim was a two layer design.
For giggles have ordered an Aneng AN 888S
Whoah! Watch where that landed we might need it later.
