ok.....seriously guys.....talk me off the ledge.
it weighs 64 lbs! more even than the 141t that went out the door years ago because it was too bulky and too heavy.
(BUT it is easily within local pick up range.)
somebody tell me it is useless and prone to spontaneous combustion.

There's only so much you can do with a SA that doesn't come with a TG (RF source) and expect to spend as much again for one. IIRC that bumps the weight for the pair to 100+lbs.
that is very logical. you sir are the new voice of reason on the TEA thread.
in fact, you are the ONLY voice of reason here.
(but it does not seem to help my irrational lust for that ancient boat anchor.)
freqq, you've been here long enough to know that seeking voices of reason (at least by conventional standards) among THIS lot is a fool's errand! If, however, you seek validation and encouragement for your GAS, you've come to the right place!
Positives -
It's relatively local
Mostly intact knobs
At least powers up
As for the no trace, that
could be because it looks like some of the buttons to select modes and whatnot have NOTHING selected - if you look at the photos closely, you'll see that the buttons for sweep mode, frequency span and amplitude scale are all in the out position, and if I'm not mistaken, at least one of each must be selected. I think the green colored ones are the 'start here' settings that put it into a sort of default operating mode.
Negatives -
This is the TEA thread - there is no such thing as a negative as long as you can muster the $$ and have space for it.
