Tek 2445/2465 A5 CPU board

My 2445 had a bad A5 board so I bought a replacement on Ebay (don't laugh please)
There are a few unsubtle differences
            Original   Replacement
J652    20 pins       26 pins
W512  34 pins      26 pins
Have I bought a pig in a poke or is there some possible resolution

Sounds like the two boards are of different ages, they made quite a lot of changes over the years, as well as the A & B variants.

J652 with 20 pins and W512 with 34 pins is consistent with the schematic for a 2445A or 2445B.  Is that not what you have?

Maybe someone put the wrong nameplate on the scope?  They do come off.

Based on the number of pins, the replacement board you received is for a 2445 or 2465 (plain, not A or B).  To further confirm, an A5 control board for a 2445 or 2465 will have a part number on it of the form 670-7279-xx.  An A5 control board for an A or B version would be 670-9052-xx.

The two board types are not swappable.

Unless it's severely damaged, it's usually not too difficult to fix the boards in these scopes at the component level.

Nailed it !. My error, I bought the wrong board. Thanks, Mark, for your explanation of "A" and "Non A" board differences.
At least it was not excessively pricey.

Ugh!  That guy!  But no, the 'conversion' is from a 2445B, a very nice but not sought after model, to the 'ultimate scope', the 2465B.  The reason he got away with that is that they are very similar internally and the CPU boards interchange with only the firmware being different.

The same seller is also famous for selling 'low hours' scopes, which apparently works as a selling point despite the fact that the hours can be reset and changed from diagnostic menus.  I just ask "how many hours would you like on it?
".  I got that from a used car dealer...

I have a (correctly labelled) 2445A which had a kaput 670-9052. I incorrectly bought a 670-7279 board which is for the 2445 and is incompatible with the 9052.
Vendor was totally correct in his description.
