New Display for Pendulum CNT-90 Counter
« on: August 14, 2020, 09:52:22 am »
A recent auction of military surplus in the UK released a number (30 or 40) of these excellent counters (20GHz optioned) at <£500 prices.
However, it's pot luck on condition (and even working condition), and my counter arrived with a slight defect on the display.  The display is bright, but has this odd yellow track wandering about under the top layer of glass.  I have checked and it's within the sealed display module.  Photo attached.  It's not serious, and otherwise the counter looks virtually unused and works beautifully.    It does not seriously impact the readability.  However, I wondered if a replacement display might be available.
Fluke/Tek say it's obsolete and have no spares.  The Pendulum UK agent quoted £575 and I have to return the counter to Poland for the repair.
If anyone has any insight into where I might get a new display at a more reasonable price, I would be grateful.

Yeah, there are threads on this around.  I know it's been done, I don't know if the replacement used was a perfect match.

I'm still trying to get a new display for this unit.

Also I contacted Pendulum, wrote with Pendulum Denmark, they diverted me to Poland.
Pendulum Poland was very kind, but not allowed to sell me a new display.
They than diverted me to a Pendulum dealership in Germany who told me they can't sell me a display, only solution they offered me was to send the unit to them so they than send it to Poland for repair.
The repair would finally cost me >800€  :palm:
In these modern days not really a synergic and enviroment and user friendly method.
Next time I buy some used equipment I check for eventually used repair methods and parts availability.
